MDJA  Diary and Calendar released

Mysuru: Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda released the new year (2025) calendar while Siddartha Group of Hotels Managing Director P.V. Giri released the diary brought out by Mysuru District Journalists Association (MDJA) at a programme organised at MDJA Office on Thyagaraja Road in K.R. Mohalla here on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Devegowda said that the media has the power to prevent any injustice to common man in the society.

Pointing out that newspapers can also warn the Legislature, Executive and the Judiciary in a Democracy, he highlighted that Media, which forms the fourth pillar of Democracy, has enormous responsibility.

Noting that newspaper agents brave inclement weather in delivering newspapers to the doorsteps of subscribers early  morning daily, he recalled the contributions of top journalists such as Khadri Shamanna, Krishna Vattam etc., in the field of journalism.

Developmental Journalism award recipient C.J. Rajeev, Karnataka Media Academy annual award recipients T. Gururaj and  J. Jayanth, Praja Sandesha Endowment award recipient P. Shilpa, H. Narasimaiah State-level award recipient Bannur K. Raju and Journalist Nagaraj Navimane, who was recently awarded Ph.D degree, were felicitated and the calendar of District Journalists Abhyudaya Co-operative Society was released on the occasion.

Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji graced the occasion.

MDJA President K. Deepak, General Secretary Dharmapura Narayan and other office-bearers were present.
