Media Certification and Monitoring Committee set up

Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar has constituted a District-Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) to keep a check on paid news in the district.

The Committee will scrutinise print and electronic media to identify political advertisements in the garb of news in the media.

The MCMC is headed by District Electoral Officer, who is also the Deputy Commissioner and will consist of Additional Deputy Commissioner, University of Mysore’s Journalism and Mass Communication Department Head Dr. C.K. Puttaswamy, Information and Publicity Department retired Deputy Director B.S. Meenakshi, Maharani’s Arts College for Women Journalism Department Assistant  Professor Dr. S.G. Raghavendra, Akashvani retired Programme Executive M.J. Shivaswamy and Information and Public Relations Assistant Director R. Raju as Member- Secretary, according to a press release from the Information and Public Relations Department.
