Mysore/Mysuru: With the COVID-19 second wave creating havoc in city, many individuals and organisations have volunteered to serve the needy in their own way. While a few have contributed in the form of food and medicines, some others organisations have been distributing groceries, medicines etc. to the needy. Volunteers of a few organisations have been running around the city distributing food and delivering medicines to senior citizens and to those in home isolation.

Rotary Heritage Mysuru, under President Rtn. P. Surendra and with the able support of Charter President Rtn. K. Manjunath and Club members, are preparing and distributing around 1,200 food packets every day. The food is prepared under hygienic conditions with lots of vegetables and cereals with all the nutrition and boosts immunity to fight Corona. The food is packed in aluminium foil covers and is being distributed at various localities in and around the city. Rajanna, proprietor of Amma Choultry has provided the kitchen, utensils and premises to be used free of cost, thereby contributing to the cause in a huge way.

Tripth Paatr Army is a charitable wing of Shiv Shakti Shivalaya Religious and Charitable Trust of city where the volunteers help the needy. The Trust has helped over a thousand people during the current pandemic by providing food, groceries and other essentials. 

The volunteers collect excess food from donors and also prepare fresh food to serve the needy. The volunteers also run around to deliver medicines only for those who are in home isolation and for senior citizens. 

The Trust plans to provide free education to poor students and construct a ‘gaushala’ (cattle shed) to shelter stray cattle and feed them. The Trust can be reached by calling Pandit Vishal Sharma on Mob: 98862-95411.  

City’s Triton Valves has donated medicines worth Rs. 10.70 lakh to be distributed to COVID patients. The medicines were handed over to MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag recently by Triton Valves’ Ashok Kumar Vyas on behalf of Managing Director Aditya Gokarna. Triton Valves’ Dr. Paramesh, Srinivas, Yashwanth, Nandini and Sowmya were present along with MCC Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj.

Members of Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) yesterday handed over 91 units of COVID Care Kits with medicines to be distributed to the needy patients of Bilikere village. The kits were handed over to Deputy Tahsildar Mahadev Nayak and Revenue Inspector Lohith by JITO Mysore Chapter Vice-President Arun Bafna, Chief Secretary Mahaveer Jain, Secretary Jaykumar Salecha, PRO Rajan Baghmar, Treasurer Manohar Sankala, KKG Treasurer Deepak Bohra and members of Jain community.

Public Health Research Institute of India (PHRII), a local NGO not only distributed dry ration but also created awareness about COVID-19 among the public. 

As life has become miserable for transgenders, daily wage workers and tribal folks during the pandemic-induced lockdown their livelihoods have taken a massive hit. 

In a bid to ease their struggle to some extent, PHRII conducted fundraising activities to support this community and provided them with dry rations. 

PHRII Administrative Officer Poornima Jayakrishna along with the staff distributed dry ration to the community recently. The organisation is planning to distribute groceries around Mysuru in the coming days.
