Mysuru: The Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has taken a different approach to celebrate National Consumer Day on Dec. 24 by educating public on different aspects of consumer protection.
The District Administration, Public Sector Oil companies, MYMUL and Rotary Mysore have joined hands with MGP which has already started a series of events that will conclude on Dec.24. These activities by MGP are: to create awareness among the youth in schools and colleges by MGP trained teachers or MGP activists, demonstrating food adulteration detection, educating the public of their responsibility of keeping Mysuru Clean, interacting with different government agencies like MCC, DC’s office, Police, KSRTC, Railways, to convey the message: “We are masters and not servants” and “Consumer is King.”
MGP activists have interacted with students at Teresian College, members of the Youth Hostels Association of India, and teachers at Lucky School. They have trained students of St. Philomena’s College on food adulteration detection, so as to educate masses on the harmful effects of food adulteration and simple ways of detecting it.
Those interested to volunteer for National Consumer Day celebrations or interested in organising interactions on consumer movement may call MGP on Ph: 2515150.
