Minister chairs meeting to lift ban on crucial roads during festivals at Hunsur

November 26, 2018

Hunsur: With persistent demands for keeping prominent roads of the town open for festivals and key public functions, District Minister G.T. Devegowda (GTD) held a meeting with the taluk administration, religious heads and Police at the Assistant Commissioner’s (AC) office here recently.

Presiding over the meeting, GTD said that Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations will be held in a grand manner in the town on the lines of Mysuru Dasara.

Regretting that Hanuma Jayanti, which was being celebrated over the years with the involvement of everyone, had lost its sheen in the past three years due to political interferences,  he said that political colour to such celebrations had disappointed the people.

Pointing out that it was important to maintain peace and harmony in the taluk, he said that the government will be appealed to lift curbs on prominent roads of the town during such celebrations.

The Minister further said that there would be no role for leaders of other taluks during the celebrations.

Former Hunsur MLA H.P. Manjunath said that he would work towards lifting curbs on roads and to ensure that all celebrations go off peacefully without any incidents.

MLA and State JD(S) President A.H. Vishwanath said that the District Administration, Taluk Administration and the Police should take the leaders and heads of all communities into confidence and ensure that all celebrations take place without hurting the sentiments of any community.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar said that the factory road and JLB road in the town were narrow and as such the roads were closed for celebrations as they could not accommodate over 30,000 people.
