Missing rear number plates

July 25, 2022

Sir,

Today I witnessed a narrowly missed accident. In an urge to jump the traffic signal,  a goods auto  narrowly missed hitting a two-wheeler, who stopped his vehicle on seeing the signal turning red.

Though the motorists at the signal admonished the goods auto driver, he jumped the signal and sped away. I wanted to take the photo of the auto jumping the signal, but found that the rear number plate was missing.

On observing, while driving I found that many commercial vehicles are either not having the rear number plates or the registration number plates are not fully visible.

The authorities concerned — be it RTO or Traffic Police — should initiate strict action against vehicles violating the rules of displaying rear number plate.  In case of any accidents, it will be difficult to note down the registration number of such vehicles and they may go scot-free owing to lack of evidence.
