  • 144 MBBS graduates receive degree certificates
  • Seven bag medals for outstanding academic achievement

Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 144 MBBS graduates of 2015 batch received their degree certificates out of which seven received medals for Outstanding Academic Achievement at the 92nd Annual Convocation, organised by Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) and Mysore Medical College Alumni Association (MAA) at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Convocation Hall on Hunsur Road here yesterday.

Of the seven achievers, Dr. S. Vindhya tops the list with six gold medals. She is the daughter of K.V. Suresh and Dr. K. Dhanalakshmi couple, residents of Bangarpet in Kolar district.

Apart from her, Dr. Nemichandra has won four medals and Dr. A. Adithya, Dr. Nischay, Dr. Roshni Manoj, Dr. K.S. Puneeth Kumar and Dr. Rachana Naik have bagged a medal each.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr. S. Sacchidanand, who was the chief guest, gave away the certificates and medals. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sacchidanand called upon the graduates to show concern to their parents and respect teachers as it was they who sculpted idols (students) from raw rocks.

Pointing out that social media was helping a lot in communicating fast, he called upon everyone to keep in touch with others and exchange valuable knowledge. “Never hesitate to seek second opinion, be it education, career or knowledge as it helps  one to update himself/ herself,” he added.

Stating that RGUHS was established 25 years ago and seven lakh students had passed out of the University till date, Dr. Sacchidanand said that RGUHS is ranked 1,400 among 20,000 Health Science Universities across the globe. “A lot of changes have taken place in medical education and everyone should update accordingly,” he added.  He asked the young doctors not to compare themselves with others but believe in themselves besides asking them to give their best to the patients.

MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Najaraj, MMC&RI Principal Dr. K.R. Dakshayini, MAA President Dr. Prasanna Shankar, Secretary Dr. S. Chandrashekar and others were present.
