Mysuru: As part of its Monthly Moonlight Music-284, Suttur Mutt, Mysuru, has organised a flute-violin jugalbandi concert by Pt. Pravin Godkhindi and Vid. R. Kumaresh at the Mutt premises, foot of Chamundi Hill, in city on Oct. 7 at 6 pm. They will be accompanied by Vid. Arjun Kumar on mridanga and Pt. Ravindra Yavagal on tabla.
Pt. Pravin Godkhindi, who was initially interested in flute, trained under his father Vidwan Venkatesh Godkhindi. Later he gained knowledge of laya under mridanga Vidwan Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma. After mastering music and the instrument, he has given many concerts both nationally and internationally and won many awards throughout his career.
Vid. R. Kumaresh, in his musical career spanning over 50 years, has created a paradigm shift in the way the world looks at Indian violin. A child prodigy who played his first concert when he was just five, he became a sensation in the field of Karnatak music by completing his 100th stage performance even before he was 10 years old.
He was the youngest violinist to be made the Official State Artiste of Tamil Nadu at the age of 17 by the then Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran.
