Mysuru: The Department of Studies in Computer Science, University of Mysore had organised a workshop on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Learning’ at Vigyan Bhavan in Manasagangothri here yesterday.
Inaugurating the programme, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh Director Dr. P. Nagabhushan opined that more research was needed in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as science and technology were developing fast. He contended that the scope of AI should be widened to cover every aspect of handling machinery.
Speaking on the occasion, Computer Science Professor D.S. Guru recalled that ages ago animals were used by humans to do certain jobs and added that in the same way AI can be used to do many tasks as technology has entered literally all spheres. He opined that Indian Engineers and scientists having carved a niche for themselves across the globe through excellence, can come out with innovative research in the field of Artificial Intelligence application.
University of Mysore Registrar Dr. R. Shivappa opined that computers and AI should not necessarily be used only in the field of science and technology but should also be used for the betterment of society.
IIIT Chennai Computer Science Department Head Dr. C. Chandrashekar and others were present on the occasion.
