Bengaluru: The Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru has fixed Dec. 18 for pronouncing its order on petitions challenging Karnataka Lokayukta Police’s decision to give a clean chit to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land-allotment case.
During the recent hearing, the Special Court Judge said the Court would rule on the “B-final” (closure) report filed by the Lokayukta investigating officer on that date.
The matter is being pursued by activist Snehamayi Krishna, who has appealed against the closure report. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also approached the Court with a petition linked to the same case.
In February, the Lokayukta Police had given a clean chit to CM Siddaramaiah, his wife B.M. Parvathi and two others, stating that allegations against them could not be substantiated due to lack of evidence. Siddaramaiah, Parvathi, brother-in-law B.M. Mallikarjunaswamy, Devaraju — from whom Swamy purchased land and gifted it to Parvathi — and others were named in the FIR registered by the Mysuru Lokayukta Police on Sept. 27, 2024.
The case centres around allegations that 14 compensatory sites were allotted to Parvathi in Mysuru’s upscale Vijayanagar 3rd and 4th Stages, which are of higher market value than the land acquired by MUDA.
MUDA reportedly allotted the sites under its 50:50 ratio scheme, giving land losers 50 percent of developed land in exchange for their undeveloped land.
The allotment was made in lieu of 3.16 acres of Parvathi’s land where MUDA formed a residential layout. It is also alleged that Parvathi did not possess a valid legal title over the 3.16-acre land at Survey No. 464, Kesare village, Kasaba Hobli, Mysuru Taluk.
