Mysuru: In a U-turn this morning, RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna announced that he will not be filing an appeal in the Supreme Court (SC) to transfer the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his family from the Lokayukta to the CBI.
Earlier, Snehamayi Krishna had petitioned the High Court seeking a CBI investigation into allegations regarding the allocation of 14 sites to Chief Minister’s wife B.M. Parvathi in exchange for her 3.16-acre land at Kesare that MUDA acquired.
However, after hearing arguments, the High Court dismissed the petition and upheld the Lokayukta investigation.
In a media statement this morning, he clarified his stance: “Many have asked whether I will approach the Supreme Court to seek a CBI probe into the MUDA case. After carefully reviewing the High Court’s verdict, spending two days analysing the evidence in my possession, consulting legal experts and well-wishers and reflecting on my past legal battles, I have made a decision.”
“Rather than prolonging the case by taking it to the Supreme Court, I am confident that — regardless of the Lokayukta’s findings — I can prove my allegations in Court based on the evidence I have and will further collect. Therefore, while I retain the right to appoint legal counsel if necessary, I have decided to personally present my evidence, argue the case as a party in person and ensure that the accused are brought to justice at the earliest.”
Snehamayi Krishna stated that he will wait to see whether the Lokayukta Police files a charge sheet or a B-Report (a cancellation report indicating insufficient evidence to proceed with a trial) before deciding his next course of action.
“If Lokayukta Police files a charge sheet, I will ensure that the accused are prosecuted and will appoint additional advocates to secure justice. However, if they file a B-Report, I will challenge it in High Court and argue the case myself, presenting the evidence in my possession,” he added.
