Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, Bengaluru, has organised 53rd Senior Music Scholars’ and 35th Young Music Scholars’ State Music Conference in Bengaluru at Patti auditorium, Rama Mandira, N.R. Colony, from Nov. 6 to 10.
Vid. G.S. Ramanujan, senior percussion artiste and music scholar from Mysuru, is selected as the President of the Senior Musicians’ Conference and will be conferred with the title ‘Ganakalabhushana’ on the final day.
Vid. Dr. K.T. Udayakiran, another talented musician from the city, is selected to chair the Young Musicians’ Conference and he will be awarded ‘Ganakalashree’ title on the concluding day.
Karnataka Ganakala Parishat, a forum of musicians, is one of the prestigious Music Sabhas of the country and has been in the forefront in propagating the divine art of Karnatak Classical Music since 1969.

Vid. G.S. Ramanujan hails from a family of musicians and was under the tutelage of Vid. P.G. Lakshminarayana, who shaped him as an accomplished mridanga and ghata artiste. Ramanujan has accompanied almost all senior and leading artistes on both mridanga and ghata such as Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, M. Balamuralikrishna, R.K. Srikantan, T.N. Krishnan, Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, M.S. Gopalakrishnan, N. Ramani, T.V. Shakaranarayanan, T.N. Sheshagopalan, Bombay Sisters, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, T.M. Krishna, Ranjani-Gayatri, Abhishek Raghuram, Sandeep Narayanan and many more.
He has participated in Radio Sangeeth Sammelan and National Programmes of AIR and Doordarshan, besides presenting lecture-demonstrations and papers at Music Conferences and Seminars.
He holds Post-Graduate degrees in Economics and Statistics and was working as a Professor of Economics at Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, till recently.
Vid. Dr. K.T. Udayakiran is an eminent vocalist, violinist and scholar in Karnatak Classical Music. He is a disciple of Vid. H.K. Narasimhamurthy in violin, whereas his gurus in vocal music are Vid. M. Raghavendra and Vidu. Pushpa Srinivasan.
He did his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D in Music from University of Mysore with flying colours with UGC Fellowship. An ‘A’ graded artiste in vocal and ‘B-High’ graded artiste in violin and devotional music of AIR, he is adept in keyboard and is known for his knowledge of western classical music. He has also published many research articles, presented in many National and International Music Conferences. Presently Udayakiran is working as Asst. Professor, Department of Music and Fine Arts, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur.
