Muslim brethren celebrate Eid Meelad

Mysore/Mysuru: Jashn-E-Meelad un Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed will be celebrated today.

A procession will be taken out at 2.15 pm followed by the grand celebration at Meelad Park on Ashoka Road at 6 pm.

Yesterday, speeches on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed were held throughout the night.

Today, the procession will be taken out at 2.15 pm from Masjid-e-Azam on Ashoka Road, which will pass through Meena Bazar, Sawday Road, Savoy chowk, Dr. Zakir Hussain Circle, Pullikeshi Road and culminate at Masjid E Azam.

At 6.30 pm, Central Meelad committee has organised a function at Meelad Park in which Sir Khazi of Mysore Hazarath Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff will preside and MLA Tanveer Sait will be the chief Guest. Hazrath Moulana Haziq Nadvi, Hazrath Moulana Syed Shahabuddin Nadvi, Moulana Mohamed Sulthan Qasmi, Hazrath Moulana Abdus Salam Uppin Angdi of Jamaath-e-Islami Hind, Mysore unit, will speak on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

Separate arrangements for Ladies has been made in Meelad Park. Tableaux made by various Meelad committees and Masjids will be taken out from Meelad Park, which will pass through Meena Bazar, Sawday Road, Savoy Chowk and culminate at Dr. Zakir Hussain Circle.

Prizes will be distributed to the best tableaux. Tableaux depicting the tomb of prophet Mohamed and Ka’bathulla of Makkah in Saudi Arabia taking part in the procession.

All the Mosques were colourfully decorated and also illuminated to make the celebrations a memorable one. Breakfast was served after Namaz-e-Fajr at 6 am today.

Dinner has been arranged in Rifah Function Hall, Muslim Girls orphanage, opposite Meelad Park on Ashoka Road to all the participants by Alhaj Mansoor Sait Khushali, President of Masjid-e-Halai Memon at Shivarampet. Bannimantap Social and Educational Welfare Association under the leadership of S.K. Mudassir Pasha distributed fruits to the poor patients in K.R. Hospital.
