Mysuru woman bags Australian award

Mysuru: Paleyanda Ponnappa Supreetha, a Mysurean doing her Ph.D in Australia, has received National Council of Women Queensland (NCWQ) Office For Women (Return to Work) Bursary Award-2018.

NCWQ is affiliated to National Council of Women of Australia Inc. Ltd. and the International Council of Women. It works for the empowerment of women and families and to promote equal status for women in all walks of life. It acts as a voice on issues and concerns of women at State and Regional levels.

The Award is conferred on women above 25 years of age and enrolled in a tertiary studies programme and studying to support woman’s return to either full-time or part-time employment after a break from workforce.

The NCWQ has also awarded Supreetha one year honorary membership and the association is linked with 28 associations across the world. The Government of Australia, Ministry of Women and Child Development, has recognised the Award.

Supreetha passed her M.Tech by securing Gold Medal from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). She studied her Engineering at Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysuru.

At present she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Nano Engineering Technology in Queensland University, Brisbane, Australia. She is in the final year of Ph.D. in the subject ‘Electrochemical and Chemical and Biosensor,’ which will benefit human survival.

Supreetha is the daughter of Paleyanda Ponnappa and Bhagyavathi couple. While Ponnappa is a senior advocate residing in Vijayanagar 3rd Stage, Bhagyavathi is retired from government service at Harangi project. Supreetha’s brother Paleyanda Ponnappa Santhosh is working as Inspector, Udayagiri Police Station, Mysuru.
