In his lecture, the DGP said, “The notion of national integration should begin at home, wherein the members of a household share a good rapport with their neighbours and others in the community. Mutual respect towards each other will help bring about a communal harmony. The youth of today are like a flowing river, when the inflow of river is more, it needs to be channelised towards respective canals or dams. In the same manner, the thoughts and ideas of the youth need to be channelised in the right direction, which will help bring about integration of the nation,” he added.

Referring to the recent riots in New Delhi, the IGP said, “Most of the people who took part in the violent riots in New Delhi, were youth. Lack of awareness on the issues and wrongful representations by certain sections of the media and people led to such violence. This needs to be curbed and the youth need to be rightly informed on the happenings in their neighbourhood.”

“Integration camps like these will help understand the cultures and attitudes of people in their respective regions. Participation of students from across the country is a great sign. The participants will get an opportunity to learn the local culture, their lifestyles, a few of which they can incorporate in their respective dwellings,” said Vipul Kumar.
