National Meet on “Frontiers in Biotechnology & Life Sciences”

The Department of Biotechnology,  MMK & SDM Mahila Mahavidyalaya,  Krishnamurthypuram, has organised a one-day National-level Conference on ‘Frontiers in Biotechnology & Life Sciences’ at its premises on Mar. 3 at 10 am.

Dr. H.S. Prakash, Chairman, DoS in Biotechnology, UoM, will inaugurate the meet.

Dr. Cletus D’Souza, Professor & Chair Emeritus, Department of Biochemistry, UoM will deliver the keynote address. Prof. K.V. Damodara Gowda, Principal, will preside.

Programmes: Session-1: (11am -12 pm) on ‘Yeast as a Model Organism for Molecular Biology.’ Prof. Martin E. Schweingruber, Dean in Molecular Biology, Bern University, Switzerland, will chair the session.

Session-2 (12.30 pm-1.30 pm) on ‘Plant Molecular Farming’ will be chaired by Dr. M.C. Harish, Professor & Head, Dept. of Biotechnology, Thiruvalluvar University, Sekkadu Vellore, Tamil Nadu.

Session-3 (2.30 pm – 3.30 pm) on ‘Prospectus of Bacteriophages as Antimicrobial Agents for Plant Problem’ — A Case study, will be chaired by Dr. Hanumanthappa Makari, Professor & HoD of Biotechnology, IDSG Government College, Chikamagaluru. Poster Presentation between 3.30 pm and 4 pm.
