Mysuru: The 3 Karnataka Girls Bn NCC of NCC Group Headquarters, Mysuru, has successfully completed Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-I for a duration of 10 days at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, DMG Halli, Mysuru, recently.
A total of 467 NCC Cadets participated in the NCC Camp. Colonel CPS Soemwal, Commanding Officer, 3 Kar Girls Bn NCC, Mysuru, was the Camp Commandant.
In his opening address, the Camp Commandant explained the Cadets the aim of CATC which was to carry out collective training of NCC Cadets in order to develop a sense of responsibility, self-reliance, self-help and team-spirit. Besides, the Camp laid emphasis on developing qualities of leadership, character, discipline and community living.
To create all-round awareness amongst NCC Cadets about the Armed Forces, the Camp Commandant delivered a lecture on ‘Indian Armed Forces.’
The Camp featured expert speakers from diverse fields, which included demonstration and self-defence training session by Grand Master DVS Pratap Babu, 4th DAN, World Taekwondo Federation Senior Master and National Referee, lecture on cyber crime by H.S. Renukaradhya, Dy.SP, Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), lectures on ‘Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act’ by N. Geetha, Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) by M. Reshma, Staff Nurse at K.R. Hospital, lecture on ‘Environment Conservation’ by Dr. S. Mamatha, HoD and Assistant Professor, De Paul College and a thrilling Dog Show by a team from the District Police.
These expert sessions not only enhanced the Cadets’ knowledge but also provided them with practical skills and insights, contributing to their overall development and preparedness.

Dignitaries who visited the Camp included Principals/ HMs of institutions. Col. Rohit Thakur, Group Commander, NCC Group Mysuru, who also visited the Camp, appreciated the overall conduct of the Camp and motivated the Cadets.
To inculcate team spirit, a number of competitions were conducted during the Camp which included Firing, Drill, Tug-of-War and GK Quiz. A colourful cultural programme was also presented by NCC Cadets.
At the closing ceremony, the Camp Commandant summarised the activities carried out during the period, appreciated the participants and awarded all meritorious Cadets for their performance in various competitions. CATC-1 culminated with a Group Photograph and farewell.
