Dr. K. Ganesh, Knowledge Expert and Head of the SCM Centre of Competence at McKinsey & Company, delivered the 21st edition of IndusTree: CXO Power talk “Innovative Delivery Model using Advanced Analytics” a MYRA School of Business in Yelwal here on Mar. 13.
He identified four key trends that are shaping the supply chain management arena. First of all, the accelerating growth of technology compels managers to leverage technology to increase profitability, reduce costs as well as raise service levels.
Second, managers need to quickly adopt innovation not just in their products and services, but more importantly in their business processes. Third, shorter and tougher business cycles mean that managers need to be agile and quick to respond to fluctuations in supply and demand. Lastly, they have to contend with an expanding and demanding consumer base.
Regaling the audience with negotiation role-play scenarios, he stressed the need for managers to develop better negotiation skills so as to win in the market.
Dr. Ganesh mentioned that GST roll-out in India will be a game-changer in more ways than one impinging on facility location, inventory management practices, logistics modes and channel partner relations. He signed off his talk advising budding managers to practice 4H in all aspects — humility, honesty, hard-work and humour.
