One-time COVID cash relief: Over 2.15 lakh auto, cab drivers benefited

September 27, 2020

Bengaluru: Even as auto drivers are complaining that many of them are yet to get one-time COVID cash relief announced by the State Government a few months ago amidst the COVID-induced lockdown, the Government on Thursday told the Assembly that 2.15 lakh auto and cab drivers have been benefited by the scheme.

Law Minister J.C. Madhuswamy, speaking at the Assembly on Thursday, said that the Govt. has so far received only 2.46 lakh applications for the one-time COVID cash relief scheme, out of which 2.15 lakh have been benefited. Pointing out that the cash relief was aimed to cover over 7 lakh auto and cab drivers of the State, the Minister said that, however, eligible drivers who are not benefited, can still apply for cash relief, with the Government committed for giving more time for applying.
