Mysore/Mysuru: The cultural city will witness a symphonic extravaganza like never before as the renowned Orchestra 181 takes centrestage this weekend.

This ensemble, comprising the celebrated Mysore Chamber Orchestra, the enchanting Nilgiris String Ensemble and the captivating Coonoor Choir, is all set to captivate the audience with their mesmerising melodies at the event scheduled to take place at the Jaganmohan Palace Auditorium in city on Sunday (July 2) at 6.30 pm.

The programme, organised by the Mysore Music Association in association with St. Cecilia’s School of Music, promises to be an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts of all ages.

The driving force behind Orchestra 181 is none other than the Maestro Felix M. Joseph, a Mysurean, veteran Conductor and former Band Master of the Mysore Police Bands and Orchestra. Assisting him in leading this exceptional group is Ivan Enos from Coonoor, another talented Conductor who brings his own unique touch to the orchestra’s performances. These two Masters have come together to create a musical masterpiece that effortlessly combines classical pieces from the likes of Mozart, popular  music of ABBA, and Broadway music genres.

Orchestra 181 has earned a well-deserved reputation for their performances. Felix, along with his nephew Christy, is renowned as one of the most sought-after music teachers in Mysuru, associated with Cecilia’s School of Music. Many of the orchestra members are former students of Felix and Christy, who have flourished into accomplished professionals.

The nearly 50-year-old Mysore Chamber Orchestra, known for its seamless synchronisation and exquisite performances, forms the backbone of Orchestra 181.

The Jaganmohan Palace Auditorium, with its royal grandeur and acoustics, will serve as the perfect backdrop for this extraordinary performance.
