Pave Kukkarahalli Lake Pathway like Kadri Park

January 27, 2021

Sir,

Recently there have been a spate of letters in SOM about whether it was feasible to fix interlocking tiles on the bund road around the Kukkarahalli Lake or not.

At present, since it is not paved, it becomes slushy during rainy season and so becomes unuseable. But then, if the road is paved and made into an all- weather road for walkers, there is the charge that it would hurt the knees and ankles of those who use it regularly.

Why not design it in such a way that half the road is paved and half the road is not? Then there would be a choice for the walkers too. Also the place would be fit for walking, throughout the year. This has been done in Kadri Park, Mangaluru, which I consider a model park for the whole country [see photo].
