Planter commits suicide by shooting self

Madikeri: A coffee planter, who was depressed as he was unable to repay the debts, committed suicide by shooting self with a gun at Perur village, Napoklu in Kodagu.

The deceased planter has been identified as Machhura Pavan Mandanna (67). It is learnt that Mandanna had taken loans for agricultural activities and was unable to repay the loans. Depressed over this, Mandanna allegedly shot himself.

The neighbours, on hearing the gunshot, rushed to his house and shifted the seriously injured Mandanna to Madikeri General Hospital, where he died   after failing to respond to the treatment.

Mandanna leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter.

Napoklu Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
