Plea to ease traffic congestion

November 17, 2018

Sir,

Of late, vehicular traffic has increased on MG Road-Harishchandra Ghat Road junction. There were road humps on both sides of this busy junction before the new JSS Hospital was opened but they were removed for smooth passage during the visit of the then President of India who dedicated the hospital to Mysureans.

Unfortunately, the speed- breakers were not put back by the Traffic Police. On behalf of the safety of hundreds of motorists, who ply on this stretch, I request the Traffic Department to reinstall the humps.

Secondly, I urge the authorities to construct a ‘bus bay’ near Gun House Circle to ease traffic congestion at the bus shelter located close to the auto stand at the Circle. At present, buses shuttling to and from Chamarajanagar, Gundlupet, Nanjangud and two Inter-State services stop in the middle of the Road thereby risking the lives of passengers and inconveniencing other motorists.

I had brought this issue to the notice of the Krishnaraja Traffic Police about two years ago during a public grievances meet at the Police Station where they had assured that the Road would be widened and bus bay built, but so far no action has been taken.

Thirdly, the vehicular movement is on the rise at Jayachamarajendra Statue Circle (Hardinge Circle) where six roads converge. As a precautionary measure, I request the City Top Cop and the Traffic Police to install signal lights at the Circle before any accidents take place.

I hope my suggestions will be considered at the earliest in the interest of tax-paying citizens.
