Plea to increase frequency of Mysuru-Dadar Sharavati Express

May 23, 2019

Sir,

The Railway network under Mysuru Division is witnessing rapid development related to passenger growth, increased traffic post-doubling and electrification and new Railway Stations developed to reduce congestion at Mysuru Railway Station.

The Railway administration should further strive to ensure optimum rail connectivity across India from Mysuru through introduction of more number of new trains and increasing the frequency of some of the long distance trains.

Mysuru is now connected to Mumbai with the only available Weekly Train No. 11035/11036 Mysuru-Dadar Sharavati Express. The train is now operating on every Sunday to Dadar via Hassan-Arsikere-Davanagere-Hubballi-Dharwad-Belagavi-Miraj-Pune-Kalyan route.

However, since its introduction, this train hasn’t witnessed much changes related to its increase in frequency, that is, from the existing Weekly service. As also it is given to understand that the current need to connect to financial capital of Mumbai from Mysuru is just beyond a once a week. It is now  high time that an effort is made by the Railways to capitalise on the high patronage of this train by increasing its frequency.

Hence it is hereby requested to the South Western Railway administration at Mysuru Division to consider this suggestion to increase the frequency of train number 11035/11036 Mysuru-Dadar Sharavati Express at least into a Bi-weekly or a Tri-weekly service. Further it is also suggested to explore the feasibility of operating a new train to Mumbai via Hassan-Sakleshpur-Mangaluru Junction-Konkan Railway route, if an increase in frequency of Sharavati Express is otherwise not feasible.
