PM Modi’s visit: Traffic restrictions in Mysuru

Mysuru: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi arriving in city late night today, the City Police have announced traffic restrictions in some parts of the city on account of VVIP security and smooth movement.

Accordingly, vehicular movement has been banned from Mysore Airport in Mandakalli to Race Course Circle on Nanjangud Road from 8.30 pm till 12 midnight. Also, vehicular movement has been banned on the stretch of road from lorry terminal to MRC Circle, Boulevard Circle to MRC Circle, from underbridge to MRC Circle on M.G. Road, Mysuru Zoo to MRC Circle, from 10 pm tonight till 1 pm tomorrow (Feb.19). Vehicular movement has been banned from Race Course Circle – Lalitha Mahal Road- Lalith Mahal helipad from 11 am to 1 pm on Feb.19.

Also parking of vehicles has been banned in 200mts. distance on either side of these stretches of the road.

Vehicular movement from Kautilya Circle to Ekalavya Circle on KRB Road (Krishnaraja Boulavard) has been banned from 12 noon to 6 pm on Feb.19.

Vehicular Movement has been banned on Kautilya Circle-Railway gate- Kalamandira road- Kalamandira-Metropole Circle- Railway Station and on Metropole Circle on JLB Road- Nanjangud road- Mandakalli airport from 12 noon to 6 pm on Feb.19.

Vehicular movement and parking of vehicles in the city Railway Station premises has been banned from 12 noon on Feb.19 till the conclusion of the Prime Minister’s programme. No vehicles fitted with LPG cylinders will be allowed to park at the programme venue.

Vehicles coming from South of the city — from Nanjangud road, Manandavadi road, RTO Circle and Jayanagar side — should be parked on Geetha road and on the stretch from ZP office to Ekalavya Circle on K.R. Boulevard road.

Vehicles coming from North of the city — from Mandi Mohalla, N.R. Mohalla, Lashkar Mohalla, Devaraja Mohalla, Irwin Road, Railway Station, JLB road and Devaraj Urs road side — should be parked at Maharaja’s Junior College Ground on JLB road.

Vehicles coming from East of the city — from Siddharatha Layout, Nazarbad, K.R. Mohalla and Chamaraja double roadside — should be parked at Maharaja’s Degree College and Yuvaraja’s College premises (via the VC residence road).

Vehicles coming from west of the city — from Kuvempunagar, Saraswathipuram, Hunsur road, Bogadi road and V.V. Mohalla side — should be parked on swimming pool road, Saraswathipuram.

Public transport vehicles from other districts

Public transport vehicles such as buses, maxicabs and lorries, coming from Mysuru city, Hassan, Kodagu, H.D. Kote taluk, should be parked at the village hostel ground, Manasagangothri.

Public transport vehicles coming from Chamarajanagar district, should be parked at Sarada Vilas College Grounds and those coming from Mandya and Mysuru (Rural) districts, should be parked at J.K. Grounds close to the Railway Station.

Saffron flags, leaders’ posters: The saffron flags and the posters of leaders including a life-size one of Prime Minister Modi holding a broom stick and another saying, ‘Welcome to Swachh Mysuru’ are put up in Maharaja’s College Grounds. There are also flex-posters of BJP National President Amit Shah, former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa and other leaders. Nearly 60,000 chairs will be put at the Maharaja’s College Grounds and according to the Party sources, more than a lakh of people are expected to attend the rally.

People from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts will be ferried in nearly 1,000 buses and lorries to the venue.

The dais where Modi will make his public speech is 40 ft x 60 ft and this is made according to the instructions of the SPG. There is also a restroom for the PM erected right behind the dais. The MPs, ex-MPs, Legislators, leaders and other VIPs will all be seated on the right side of the dais.

There are nearly 30 temporary toilets called ‘Bi Loo’ for both men and women that have been set up at the venue.

Fourteen LED screens will also be set up for people to watch the proceedings. Incidentally, the PM’s speech will be shown live at Railway Station and the flagging off of the Udaipur Humsfar Express will be telecast live at the Maharaja’s College venue.

Arrangements for drinking water has been made in the nearly 860 sq.ft sprawling Maharaja’s College Grounds. Light lunch will also be served to the people attending the public rally.
