Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai should fulfil his promise made on their demands, which chiefly included regularisation of service of direct payment MCC Pourakarmikas, Pourakarmika Association State President Narayana warned of re-staging indefinite stir if the demands are not met by Dasara.

Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here, Narayana, who is also a former Mysuru Mayor, said that MCC Pourakarmikas and Pourakarmikas serving in Urban Local Bodies across the State had launched an indefinite stir from July 1 seeking regularisation of service and fulfilment of other demands. Following the stir, CM Bommai held a meeting with Pourakarmika leaders, during which the CM promised  to meet nine of their demands.

Now, as  promised, the CM should take measures for fulfilment of demands by Dasara, he said and warned that Pourakarmikas will be forced to re-launch the stir in a more aggressive manner if the Government fails to deliver on  its promise.

Pointing out that out of the 43,000 Pourakarmikas in Urban Local Bodies of the State, only 8,900 are on regular rolls,  Narayana said that in MCC, 538 of the 1,648 Pourakarmikas are on regular rolls, while the rest fall under direct payment system and contract recruitment.

Direct payment and contract Pourakarmikas are not getting any benefits or financial  help in case of any hardship that they come across in their life, he maintained adding that the introduction of direct recruitment scheme, which is one of their demands,  will help solve the problem.

Pourakarmika leaders K. Nanjappa, G. Manjunath, R. Shivanna, C.R. Rachaiah, N. Mohan Kumar, Rajiv, Parashuram, N. Mara, T. Srinivas, S. Murugesh and others were present at the press meet.
