Prof. G.H. Nayak passes away

Mysore/Mysuru: Noted writer and critic Prof. G.H. Nayak (88) passed away at his residence in Kuvempunagar (behind Kamakshi Hospital) here this afternoon. He leaves behind his wife Meera Nayak, a well- known activist of the city, a daughter and a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites will be conducted after the arrival of his daughter Keerthi from England, according to family sources.

Born in Soorve village in Ankola taluk of Uttara Kannada district in 1935, Prof. Govindaraya Hammanna Nayak (G.H. Nayak), retired as Kannada Professor of University of Mysore.

Prof. Nayak had also served as a Visiting Faculty of Hampi Kannada University and Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies, Manasagangothri. He has many works to his credit. He had won many awards and prizes including  V.M. Inamdar award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy  award (Honorary), Karnataka State award, G.S. Shivarudrappa award, Shivaram Karanth award and Pampa award.
