Public concerned over compliance of COVID norms at Sub-Registrar Offices

April 28, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka Government which announced a 14-day COVID Curfew across the State from the night of Apr. 27 to the morning (6 am) of May 12, has allowed rotational functioning of staff on 50:50 basis at all its offices.

Accordingly, the Government has directed the Department of Stamps and Registration to function with all COVID precautionary and safety measures in place. It has also instructed  the Department authorities not to sanction leave for any staff, except for those who have tested positive for the deadly virus. Also, all officials must be at their headquarters .

The staff has also been warned that the Government will take disciplinary action against such staff who seek leave other than for reasons permitted.

Meanwhile, the members of the public have raised their concerns about the compliance of COVID-19 appropriate behaviour at Sub-Registrar Offices. Maintaining that the Sub-Registrar Offices are always a place of activity with a large number of people visiting the office everyday, they said that hundreds of people, not only form the State, but from other States too visit the offices for property registration and other related works.

In such a scenario, it will be difficult for the authorities to ensure strict compliance of COVID-19 guidelines and the Sub-Registrar Offices may become a hot-spot for the spread of the deadly virus.

As such, the district administration should take this issue seriously and take appropriate measures to ensure that COVID-19 appropriate behaviour and other associated guidelines are followed strictly.
