Training for Medical Officers begins in city

Mysuru: The training programme for Medical Officers and Doctors of Community Health Centres and Taluk General Hospitals for the Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) programme to be held in city on Jan.28 and Mar.11, 2018, began at Doctors’ Bhavan in District Health Officer’s office premises at Nazarbad here yesterday. The training programme will be held in two phases.

The training programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC suggested the trainees to conduct a survey where there are more children below the age of five years, prepare a report and get ready for the immunisation programme.

Yesterday, training began for doctors and Medical Officers of Mysuru city and rural, Nanjangud and T. Narasipur taluks. On Dec.27, training will be held for doctors and Medical Officers of 175 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in K.R. Nagar, Hunsur, H.D. Kote and Periyapatna taluks.

During the PPI programme held on Apr.2 and 30, 2017 in the district, 2.98 lakh children were administered Polio drops. From 2011, though there are no cases of Polio reported, precautionary measures are being taken through Pulse Polio programmes which is being implemented effectively.

Specialist doctors Dr. Satish Chadre, Dr. Gopinath and Dr. Pashupathi informed the trainees to concentrate more on places where nomads have put up huts and tents and tribal hamlets.

Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. B. Basavaraju and others were present during the training programme.
