Mysuru: Pune-based wrestler Vishal Segale won the ‘Maharaja Yaduveer Wadiyar’ Cup in the National-level Traditional Wrestling tournament organised by Prakruti Foundation as part of its first anniversary at D. Devaraj Urs Multi-Purpose Stadium next Dasara Exhibition Grounds yesterday.
Vishal Segal won by pinning Belagavi wrestler Pailwan Manju at the evaporated soil (Aave Mannu) wrestling arena.
In the Marpeet section, the bout between Sangli’s Sudesh Thakur and Pune’s Vikram Ghorpade made the spectators stand on their feet. The bout between Kolhapur’s Rushikesh Patil and Mahadevapura’s Vikas too was a thrilling encounter.

The tournament saw more than seven pairs of women wrestlers from across the country. Senior wrestler of Belagavi Pailwan Mudukappa was felicitated.
Earlier, Karnataka State Biodiversity Development Board (KSBDB) Chairman S.E. Sudheendra and Nelamangala’s Shivananda Ashram Seer Sri Ramanananda Swamiji inaugurated the tournament.

Prakruti Foundation President Kiran Kumar, members Dr. Sherlyn, Dhanush, Kiran Kumar, Nelamangala’s Vaibhav Netralaya founder K. Bettathimmegowda, Bannur Siddaraju, Pailwan K. Madhusudhan, Pailwan Ganjam Manju and others were present.
