Regulate traffic at busy Manipal Hospital Junction

December 9, 2025

Sir,

I wish to draw the immediate attention of the authorities concerned to the critical traffic mismanagement at Manipal Hospital Junction, especially during morning hours. Right at the Manipal Hospital Junction, a bus stop has been placed for buses arriving from the Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway into Mysuru city.

This location is highly unscientific and poorly planned, as it lies directly on a narrow stretch of the road where vehicles converge from multiple directions. Every morning, at peak hours, the situation becomes chaotic.

The bus stop alone is not the only reason for the disruption. Tens of autorickshaws are permanently parked near the same spot, further narrowing the carriageway and creating a dangerous bottleneck.

As a result, hundreds of students, teachers, office-goers and daily professional commuters are forced to spend long minutes stuck in traffic every day.

Ironically, a Traffic Police Officer from Narasimharaja Traffic Police Station is stationed right there, yet no regulation or enforcement is visible.

Buses stop wherever they please, autos occupy the roadside without restriction and commuters bear the consequences. Road discipline is completely absent despite the presence of an officer.

This junction has become a traffic hazard and requires immediate corrective action. The following steps are strongly recommended:

1. Relocation of the bus stop to a safer, wider stretch of road. 2. Restriction on autorickshaw parking at the junction; designated parking must be created elsewhere. 3. Strict enforcement by Traffic Police, especially during peak hours. 4. Clear road markings and signboards to guide public transport vehicles.

If timely action is not taken, congestion will continue to worsen and the risk of accidents will rise.

I request the authorities to intervene at the earliest and take necessary measures to ensure smooth, safe and disciplined traffic movement at Manipal Hospital Junction for the benefit of thousands of daily commuters.
