Sir,
Months have passed and people continue to complain about one particular junction that remains overly crowded and narrow, yet our Traffic Police officers do not seem to care.
At the exit of the Mysuru Zoo underpass, an illegal auto stand has been creating a perpetual traffic bottleneck. Autos are parked wherever the drivers please, blocking traffic on both sides of the road.
Forget traffic. Even the entire footpath has been taken over, leaving no space for tourists exiting the underpass to walk. Locals too are forced onto the road because autos and vendors — tender coconut, fruit and sugarcane carts — have occupied every inch of the footpath.
Who gives them the right to park on footpaths and disrupt traffic throughout the day? They even resort to foul language when questioned.

Another issue on the same lane is the famous restaurant at the corner, where customers park their cars wherever they want. The corner remains choked with vehicles and visibility of oncoming traffic from the main road is almost zero.
Despite repeated complaints, officers seem indifferent. They themselves park on the main road while on duty and relax with tea/ coffee, even as traffic continues to be obstructed.
Earlier, there was a ‘No Parking’ board at the corner, which was pushed further down after someone complained. Now, the board has mysteriously been moved another 10-15 feet along the main road.
Why has no action been taken at this junction? The entire stretch from the restaurant to the Dasara Exhibition back gate remains clogged with traffic all day, yet this vital stretch continues to be ignored despite being a traffic epicentre.
Previously, barricades at the end of all streets near the Zoo helped regulate movement, but now even those have disappeared.
We, the residents of Ittigegud, request the Traffic Assistant Commissioner of Police to resolve this issue urgently — either by closing the Zoo underpass exit and shifting it back to the broad main road as before (which has space for 15-20 autos) or by clearing the footpaths of vendors, auto stands and haphazard parking along the stretch or by making the road a one-way.
