This refers to the article “Reviving Forgotten Memories: A grand-daughter connects with her nonagenarian grandfather Mohammed Nizamuddin, a trend-setter of football in Mysore State” (SOM dated July 7, 2021).

I was thrilled to read about Nizamuddin. My elder brother John Spurgeon also studied at Maharaja’s College in Mysore. He was a footballer himself and represented Combined Colleges Mysore at University level. In fact there was a photo of the team in Sports & Pastime magazine when they emerged victorious at University-level championship.

Nizamuddin used to visit our house in Bangalore and I still remember him reminiscing about their College days and having a hearty laugh.

This article brought back such happy memories for me, thanks to his granddaughter for writing such a beautiful article about a wonderful and unassuming person that Nizamuddin was. Thank you Star for reviving our old memories.
