Roopanagar residents join hands to collect plastic waste

February 28, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: A Mega Community Clean-up Drive, titled ‘Our Street Our Responsibility,’ accompanied by the monthly ‘Recycling Day,’ took place in Roopanagar, Mysuru on Sunday. While we must all strive to reduce our consumption of plastic, the residents of Roopanagar are taking crucial steps by recycling plastic and other dry waste products instead of consigning them to landfills.

In addition to delivering plastic and other dry waste items sorted at their homes for the monthly recycling event, more than 175 residents joined hands to collect plastic and other dry waste items from their streets.

A huge truckload of recyclable items, gathered from various streets was collected by Namma Mysuru Foundation and Jagruth Tech for upcycling plastic waste into low-carbon-footprint products and biodegradable plastic items.

The event marked sixth such community-wide clean-up drive organised and facilitated by ‘Women Power Roopanagar’, an informal group of volunteers.
