Rs. 37 lakh Garden Project begins at Dasara Exhibition Grounds

January 30, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: An apology of a garden at Dasara Exhibition Grounds is set to get a new look as the Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) is planning to beautify the campus to attract tourists who come there to take part in the annual Dasara Exhibition.

The plan coincides with the intention of the KEA to make the Grounds an all-year activity place. The authority is already planning to host a grand Summer Festival this year.

Gardens will be developed in front of industrial sheds at the Exhibition and the contract worth Rs. 7.65 lakh has been handed over to The Nurserymen Cooperative Society, Lalbagh in Bengaluru that is a part of Horticulture Department. The first phase of the project to beautify the gardens was launched by KEA Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda yesterday.

The entire beautification project is worth Rs. 37 lakh and the first phase of the work will be completed in two months and all the work will be completed within six months to get ready for Dasara 2021.

“The mega project has been planned to pull tourists who come to Dasara Exhibition and make the place another tourist attraction. The project envisages planting greenery in the present desolated areas. We intend to build a garden with flowering and ornamental plants and that is why the contract has been handed over to the Horticulture Department,” Hemanth Kumar Gowda said. As all the fountains inside the exhibition compound are dilapidated, the KEA will draw up plans to rejuvenate the fountains for the forthcoming Summer Festival in May this year, he added. KEA CEO Girish and others were present.
