Sanskrit Week from Aug. 9 to 15 in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Samskruta Bharati Seva Samste, Mysuru unit, has organised Sanskrit Week from Aug. 9 to  15 in city.

Disclosing this at a press meet in city yesterday, Karnataka South Region President T.N. Prabhakara said, “The inaugural function of the Sanskrit Week will be held on Aug. 8, at Vijaya Vittala School premises in Saraswathipuram at 10 am.”

Continuing, Prabhakara said that the Government directed that ‘Samskritotsava’  be celebrated for 7 days. “Samskruta Bharati  has called for the celebration of Samskrit Sapthaha  in 75 institutions in city to commemorate the 75th year of Indian independence. Karnataka Sahitya Academy Chairman Dr. B.V. Vasanthakumar will inaugurate and Samskruta Bharati Mysuru Unit President Dhirendra Kumar Mehta,Vijaya Vittala Educational Institutions Secretary R. Vasudev Bhat, Principal H. Sathyaprasad and Prof. Mangala will participate as chief guests,” he added.

During the Sanskrit Week from Aug. 9 to Aug. 15 to be held at Vishwam auditorium at Saraswatipuram 8th Main Road, recital of Sanskrit Hymns and Kannada discourses on various subjects of Sanskrit will be held daily at 5.50 pm. Similarly, on Aug. 9, Hymns from Rigveda and discourse on Kavyashatra Vinoda will be given by Dr. H.V. Nagaraja Rao. On Aug.10, recitation of Shukla Yajurveda  Hymns and discourse on Brahmavadiniyaru by Saudamini. On Aug.11, recital of Hymns from Krishna Yajurveda and discourse on ‘Sankrit in our daily life’ by Dr. N. Rukmangada, on Aug.12, Samaveda Mantra Patana and discourse on Raghuvamshada Modala Sarga and Management Art in Ramayana by Dr. Suresh and Vivek will be held. On Aug.13, recital of Hymns from Atharvana Veda and discourse on Meemamse Nyayagalu, Leelavati Ganita by Krishna Bhatta and Dr. Jayarama Bhatta, on Aug. 14, Hymns from Upanishad and introduction of book ‘Battle of Sanskrit,’ discourses on Prananeeya Shodha Samstanada Anubhava by Dr. Anantapadmanabha, Mahashri and Vardhini and on Aug.15, dance and music and discourse on Sanskrit Freedom Fighters by Dr. T.N. Prabhakar will be held.
