April 8, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: Student life is the most crucial phase in shaping an individual’s future, and if utilised properly, students can achieve excellence in any field, said Karnataka State Open University KSOU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharanappa V. Halse.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Sathgamaya-2026,’ a Multi-Genre Inter-collegiate Fest organised at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in city recently.

He said that student life is often referred to as a ‘golden period.’  During this phase, it is essential for students to develop their personality through good education, continuous practice and meaningful experiences.

He cited the example of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who distributed newspapers during his childhood but later rose to occupy the highest office in the country through dedication and perseverance.

He encouraged the students to draw inspiration from the lives of such great personalities to achieve their goals.

“Along with quality education, it is equally important to cultivate moral values and social responsibility. In today’s world, quality education plays a crucial role in leading individuals towards success”, he said.

He also urged students to utilise their talents effectively and contribute to building a better society as responsible citizens.

Amrita Mysuru Director Br. Anantaanda Chaitanya, Associate Dean Prof. Shekar Babu, Principal Prof. G. Ravindranath, and Academic Coordinator Dr. Rekha Bhat and others were present on the occasion.
