Saxophone Concert at Suttur Mutt in city by Vid. Harish Pandav

Mysuru: Vid. Harish Pandav will present a saxophone concert at Suttur Mutt at the foot of Chamundi Hill in city tomorrow (Dec.12) at 6 pm as part of the Mutt’s Moonlight Music-219.

He will be accompanied by Vid. C.N. Tyagarajan on violin and Vid. Anur Vinod Shyam on mridanga. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will grace the occasion.

Vid. Harish Pandav: An extremely talented and versatile Saxophone artiste from Mysuru, Harish Pandav has performed in numerous concerts including the Youth Music Festival at Gayana Samaja (Bangalore), JSS Sangeetha Sabha (Mysore), Yuva Sourabha (Bangalore) and Vid. Nethi Sriramalu Sharma Sangeetha Sabha (Hyderabad).

A graded artiste in All India Radio, Mysuru, he is into music direction for movies also. He has received several honours throughout his music journey — ‘Sri Sushameendra Kala Puraskara’ from Sri Sushameendra Seva Prathishtana, ‘Samskrutika Prathibe’ from D. Banumaiah’s Arts & Commerce College and ‘Kalasourabha’ from Mysore Dasara Exhibition Committee.

Son of Thavil Vidwan Thopaiah, Harish Pandav learnt music from Vid. N. Jayaram, Vid. H.A. Ningaraj Pandav and Naadaswara Vid. K.N. Krishnamurthy of Kodiyala, Karnataka. 

Today, he continues to practice Karnatak classical vocal and saxophone under the guidance of Vidu. Gayathri Satyanarayana of Mysuru. Harish Pandav has earned a Master’s Degree in Music from Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysuru.

Vid. C. N. Tyagarajan: He has been serving as a violin teacher at Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society School. A recipient of Union Government Student Scholarship, Vid. Tyagarajan belongs to the tradition of Mysore T. Chowdiah.

Vid. Anur Vinod Shyam: He is the son and disciple of Vid. Anur Ananta Krishna Sharma.  He plays mridanga among many other instruments. For the past 15 years, he has accompanied many music stalwarts. He is the recipient of Ananya Naada Jyoti Kala Puraskar and Swara Sunaada Trust Award besides being the winner of All India Akashavani Contest. A member of ‘Laya Lavanya’ troupe, he has performed at Singapore, Abu Dabi and Germany.
