School boy drowns in lake

Hunsur: In a tragic incident, a 14-year-old school boy, who went for a swim at a lake after skipping school, died of drowning this morning.

Harsha (14), a ninth standard student of a Private School in Hunsur, is the deceased.

Harsha, son of Manjunath and Shailaja couple of Chilkunda in Hunsur taluk, had gone for a swim at Belthur Lake located close to Karnataka Woollen Factory on Hunsur-K.R. Nagar Road, along with his four school friends, after skipping classes this morning.

Harsha, who  was the first among the group of five students who ventured into the lake waters for a swim, drowned a few moments later, after which the rest of the students, who stood on the banks of the lake, informed the local villagers, who in turn informed the Fire and Emergency Services authorities, it is learnt.

The Fire personnel, who rushed to the lake, fished out the body of Harsha and sent it for post-mortem.

The Hunsur Police have registered a case in this regard.
