March 6, 2024

Mysore/Mysuru: With Lok Sabha elections just round the corner, members of BJP Mahila Morcha have jumped into election mode through ‘Nari Shakti Vandana Yatra’ being held across the country.

As a part of the programme, members of Narasimharaja (NR) Constituency BJP Mahila Morcha took out a scooter rally from 1008 Ganapathi Circle at Rajendranagar in city yesterday.

Flagging-off the scooter rally, former Mayor Sandesh Swamy said that the ‘Nari Shakti Vandana Yatra’ was being organised to create awareness among the people on the initiatives launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the previous BJP State Government for the welfare and empowerment of women.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government has launched several programmes in the past 10 years to provide opportunities for women to empower themselves. Though Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister, Women’s Reservation Bill was not passed in the Parliament. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who ensured that the bill was passed to provide 33 percent reservation for women in the Parliament,” he said and requested women to support PM Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Highlighting some of the welfare schemes announced by the Central Government, Swamy said that schemes such as Ujwala Yojana, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and Jaladhara Yojana among others had helped women across the country.

The rally passed through Rajendranagar arch, Shivaji Main Road, FTS Circle and Mahatma Gandhi Road before culminating at Maruthi Circle in N.R. Mohalla. NR Constituency BJP Mandal President Manju, Secretary Bhanuprakash, Padmanabh, Vinod and others were present.

Similar rally was also organised in Chamaraja Constituency which was  flagged-off by BJP City President L. Nagendra.
