The other names in the reckoning are: former Registrar Prof. C. Basavaraju, Prof. Rajashekar, Prof. Hemanth Kumar, Prof. Miditila Rani, all from University of Mysore, and Prof. Sharat Ananthamurthy from University of Hyderabad. The Committee is said to have shortlisted three names and they could be among any of these or someone else.

The sources in the University said that the Committee including Prof. B.C. Chapparwal (Governor’s nominee), former Vice-Chancellor of Indore Health University, Prof. M. Jagadish Kumar (UGC nominee), Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and Prof. S. Chandrashekar (University of Mysore nominee) from Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad.
