Seminar on Kautilya’s Arthashastra

Mysuru: “Erudition, scholarship, research abilities and writing skills in one person is very rare and all these qualities are found in the multifaceted Dr. H.R. Krishnaiah Gowda,” said Kunigal First Grade College Principal Dr. M. S. Narasimhan, in his felicitation address.

He was speaking at the Kautilya Arthashastra and Karnataka Economy Experts Seminar Series-1 and felicitation to Dr. H.R. Krishnaiah Gowda, Joint Registrar (Retd) of Cooperative Societies organised by Oriental Research Institute (ORI) and International Council for Development Research (ICDR)  at the Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri, here this morning.

He and said that he came to realise the true value of the scholar when he Krishnaiah Gowda was involved in the electrification work of Hinkal Gram Panchayat  and how meticulously he had gone about doing the work.

Another notable feature was the work of Dr. H.R. Krishnaiah Gowda titled ‘Srisamanyarige Arthashastra’ released at the event by H.V. Rajeev, President, District Cooperative Union, where Krishnaiah Gowda has written in simple language about economics which any layman can understand, he said.

In his welcome address, ORI Director Dr. S. Shivarajappa said that Kautilya’s Arthashastra, a treatise on Economics written in 4th century BC in palm leaf which is housed in his institute is relevant even today.

Former University of Mysore Vice Chancellor Prof. M. Madaiah, after releasing the felicitation volume ‘Artha Mandara’, said that Krishnaiah Gowda was a simple man whose work in cooperation and rural development was very significant.

University of Mysore VC Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, presided. Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna spoke. ICDR, Mysuru, President Dr. K. Shivachittappa welcomed.

Karnatak University Economics Professor Dr. S.T. Bagalkoti, Karnataka Mahila Sahakari Bank President B.C. Geetha, Karnataka University former Syndicate Member Jayadeva M. Menasagi, Maharani Women’s Arts College Economic Assistant Professor Dr. N.T. Somashekar and others were present.
