Seniors, be alert

September 26, 2025

Sir,

Of late, with the increasing number of gullible senior citizens being victimised and extorted by miscreants on public roads in Mysuru, the city’s erstwhile tag of “Pensioners’ Paradise” has sadly become an anathema of sorts.

If only senior citizens exercised presence of mind and courage like Kiriyamada Thammaiah (Senior citizen outsmarts fake accident conman — SOM dated Sept. 23), many such unwanted incidents could be thwarted before they escalate.

Moreover, with Police personnel almost making only a guest appearance at crime scenes, culprits are in no way deterred and continue to indulge in crime as though it were their birthright.
