Mysore/Mysuru: Lions Club of Mysore South District 317A celebrated its Charter Anniversary at The Roost Hotel in city recently. MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev was the chief guest. Former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University Prof. K.S. Rangappa was guest of honour.
As part of its service activities, the Club donated a laptop worth Rs. 20,000
to M.G. Eaktha, a 10th std. student of Adarsha Government School in Jockey Quarters, Mysuru, who has scored 625/625 in SSLC, to help her in studies.
K. Mohan Kumar, who is into cleaning overhead tanks and sumps since a long time, visiting house-to-house in Mysuru, was given better tools like submersible pumps along with cable, pipe and tape, amounting to Rs. 40,000.
Cricket play kit worth Rs. 30,000 was donated to visually impaired students of Mysore University who are representing both the State and National-level.
M. Lalitha Mahesh, who was working under other tailors to take care of her family, was provided with a sewing machine (Rs. 17,500) to independently carry on her own business.
Advocate Maheshwari, who comes from a humble farming background with very little means, was given a financial aid of Rs.10,000 to help her appear for competitive exams.
Besides, the Club gave away notebooks to Nachanahallipalya Government School students amounting to Rs. 15,000.
Charter members — Ex-MLA Ln. M.K Somashekar and Industrialist Ln. John Thayyil — also attended the event chaired by Club President Ln. B. Smitha Devaiah.
Secretary Ln. H.S. Vinod Rashinkar, Treasurer Ln. Shilpa Santhosh and all the members of the Club were present.
