Set up Passport Seva Kendra at Madikeri Head Post Office

February 22, 2021

Sir,

The Ministry of External Affairs has established Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) across several District Headquarters in Karnataka since 2017.

Mysuru POPSK at Metagalli Post Office serves for the benefit of Mysuru Urban, Mysuru Rural, and to the applicants of neighbouring Kodagu district. Applicants can now avail the normal category passports at Metagalli POPSK through an online appointment system.

It is also welcome to note that a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra was recently established in Chamarajanagar for the benefit of the respective district-based applicants.

It is however ironic to note that Mysuru’s other neighbouring district of Kodagu is yet to have a full-fledged Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. The applicants from Kodagu district under the normal category are otherwise compelled to travel only to Mysuru and visit the Metagalli Post Office to avail the passport service.

As Madikeri serves as an important Nodal Centre for the people of Kodagu district, there is now an urgent need to establish Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in the hilly district conveniently located at Madikeri Head Post Office.

Hence, the Ministry of External Affairs in tandem with the Department of Posts, South Karnataka Region, are kindly requested to look into establishing a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra at Madikeri Head Post Office.

This will immensely benefit Kodagu district-based passport applicants and also ease the burden of applicants who otherwise need to visit Mysuru or Bengaluru.
