Mysore/Mysuru: The city’s Special POCSO Court has sentenced a 19-year-old boy to 10 years imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 11,000 for sexually assaulting three boys at the Government Boys Balamandira in Vijayanagar 4th Stage.

The accused youth is Darshan, also an inmate of the Balamandira. On May 23, 2019, Darshan had sexually assaulted three boys aged 10, 11 and 14 years and had also threatened to kill them if they reveal the incident to others.

But when the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) had come for an inspection, the boys had revealed the ordeal they had underwent following which the CDPO lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station. Vijayanagar Sub-Inspector S.D. Sureshkumar, who had registered a case, conducted an investigation and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.    

Judge B.S. Jayashree, who heard the arguments from both sides, found the accused guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him. The Judge has also ordered the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide compensation of Rs. 3 lakh each to the three boys. Special Public Prosecutor M.S. Manjula argued on behalf of the Government.
