Delhi HC to hear former Minister’s bail plea on Oct.17
New Delhi: A Special Court yesterday extended the judicial custody of former Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who has been accused of money laundering under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), till Oct.25.
Shivakumar had moved Delhi High Court for a bail on Sept.26 after the Special Court had dismissed the State Congress leader’s bail plea.
The High Court, which took up the case yesterday, adjourned the hearing for tomorrow (Oct.17).
Shivakumar was arrested by the ED on Sept.3. The Congress leader is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
Meanwhile, D.K. Shivakumar’s mother Gowramma, who was summoned by ED in New Delhi for questioning, did not appear before the probe agency yesterday. Instead, she has requested the ED officials to question her in Bengaluru owing to her age and health. The probe agency had also summoned Usha, D.K. Shivakumar’s wife, for questioning. However, she also failed to appear yesterday.
Sources also said that both Gowramma and Usha had moved Delhi High Court challenging the summons issued to them by the ED.
