Lakhs of devotees from across the State and also from neighbouring States witnessed Shivarathri Maharathotsava atop Male Mahadeshwara Hills (M.M. Hills) in Chamarajanagar district yesterday. The flower-decked chariot with the idol of the presiding deity in it was pulled by the devotees as part of the Maharathotsava. As the chariot moved forward, Police, who were on security duty, began giving instructions to the devotees to move away from the chariot route as a safety measure.
