Short-film fest from Apr. 8

The two-day National-level short-film festival ‘Cinerama- 2022’ organised by Department of Visual Communication, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences,  will be held on Apr. 8 and 9 at its premises in Bogadi.

Addressing the media persons at Patrakartara Bhavan in city recently, Department Head Dr. Moulya Palahalli said, the festival will be inaugurated by Dr. T.C. Poornima, Deputy Director, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on Apr. 8 at 9.30 am.  Kendra Sahitya Academy Awardee Dr. N. Damodar Shetty and actor K.J. Pavan will be the chief guests. The film festival hosts various competitions along with workshops and discussions with film personalities.

A session on ‘Screen Writing and Direction’ and a workshop on ‘Aesthetics in Film-making’ will be held by Filmmaker and screen-writer Abhaya Simha. Tamil Nadu independent film- maker Arun Karthik will speak on the topic ‘Independent film- making.’ An interaction will be held with Padma Shri Awardee and Film Director Girish Kasaravalli, she added. The valedictory of the film festival will be held on Apr. 9 at 4.30 pm. “Ondu Motteya Kathe” and “Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana”-fame actor and director Raj B. Shetty, DRC Cinemas’ Proprietor C.R. Hanumanth and his wife Vaishali Hanumanth will be present.

The short-film winners will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10,000 (first), Rs. 7,000 (second) and Rs. 5,000 (third). Various prizes will also be given for best direction, acting and screenplay under a special category.  For details, contact Mob: 91644-61193 or 95902-48222.
