May 27, 2025

Mysuru:  On the evening of May 11, music-lovers at the century-old A.P. Jaina Brahmana Boarding Home in Mysuru were treated to a deeply inspiring sitar recital by Pandit Sayan Ghosh of Kolkata. He was ably accompanied on tabla by the eminent Pandit Bhimashankar Bidanur.

The recital opened with the majestic Raga Samkalyan, which set a serene and contemplative mood. Sayan then moved into a touching series of bhajans, including “Raghupati Raghava” and “Vaishnava Janato,” evoking a powerful emotional response from the audience. He concluded with a delightful rendition of Khambaj Dhundh Mala, leaving listeners mesmerised.

The performance held special meaning as it took place at the historic A.P. Jaina Brahmana Boarding Home, a landmark institution in Mysuru with a legacy of over 100 years. The combination of rich heritage, a soulful setting and masterful artistry made it a truly unforgettable evening for everyone present. —Nuthan
